Overdraft Protection

Today’s world moves fast. With paperless billing and automatic payments, it’s understandable how one unexpected charge could put you in the red.

Here at Spectrum Credit Union, we do everything we can to help you avoid overdraft situations.

Overdraft protection allows you to connect your Member Checking account(s) to your Primary Share Savings, Money Market Savings, and/or Personal Line of Credit accounts, so funds will be transferred automatically to cover an overdraft.*

Curious about how fund transfer works?

Funds to cover an overdraft in your Checking account will be transferred in the following order:

  1. Available funds in your Primary Share Savings account will be transferred to your Checking account.
  2. If there are insufficient funds available in your Primary Share Savings account to cover the overdraft and you have a Sub-Savings account, transfers will be made from this account.
  3. If there are insufficient funds available in your Primary Share Savings account or Sub-Savings account(s) to cover the overdraft and you have a Money Market Savings account, transfers will be made from this account.
  4. If there are insufficient funds available in your Primary Savings account, Sub-Savings account(s), and Money Market Savings account(s) to cover the overdraft and you have a personal line of credit in good standing, loan advance transfers will be made from this account.
